Google — Singapore AI Data Center (Asia-Southeast1)

Google's Singapore data center in Jurong West — the largest and most established data center campus in Southeast Asia — has operated since 2013 and anchors Google Cloud's Asia Southeast 1 region. The facility is one of Google's largest APAC compute hubs, supporting inference workloads for Google Search, YouTube, Google Translate, and Gmail across the entire Southeast Asian market.

The Jurong West campus has been expanded multiple times and now represents approximately 220 MW of IT capacity. It hosts Google Cloud's AI services for Southeast Asia: Vertex AI, Document AI, Cloud Vision, and Gemini API, serving enterprises in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and beyond. Singapore's strategic location at the intersection of major subsea cable routes (SEA-ME-WE 5, FASTER, Apricot) makes it indispensable for low-latency AI inference across APAC.

Google faces a unique challenge in Singapore: the city-state has a moratorium on new data center construction (lifted in 2022 but with strict sustainability requirements). All new capacity must demonstrate a 1.3 PUE or better and use renewable energy. Google has secured solar PPA agreements and renewable energy certificates from Southeast Asian solar projects, and is working toward 24/7 carbon-free energy at the Singapore campus. Google employs approximately 1,500 people in Singapore across cloud operations, engineering, and sales.
