AION is Scaleway and iliad Group's French AI Gigafactory bid under the European AI Gigafactories / EuroHPC framework. Scaleway's primary announcement says AION would deploy several next-generation GPU clusters equivalent to more than 288,000 NVIDIA H100 GPUs, representing 200 MW of capacity, and would be hosted in France using OpCore data-center expertise. In May 2026, Orange and other consortium partners announced a broader French AION bid with EDF, Orange, iliad, Scaleway, Bull, Capgemini, Artefact, and Ardian, emphasizing France's low-carbon nuclear and hydro-heavy electricity mix. ADCI keeps the AION record at country-level France precision because the public AION sources support a France-hosted bid, not a selected facility point. The EDF/OpCore Montereau former thermal-power-plant project is now tracked as a separate ADCI record because it is a distinct site path and is not verified as the selected AION site. The selected 200 MW value remains source-backed as proposed AI gigafactory compute capacity.
